Masada
hey baby,
Maybe you know this, but we just got back from a small vacation in Ein Gedi. We went with my mom and dad, Gadi, Tammy, Doron and all the kids. Finally, a change of scenery after 2 years. We went on a day trip to Masada. Because I took the kids out of school (I know, I know), it was pretty empty and the experience was amazing. Before we took the cable car up the mountain, the kids saw a movie to understand what happened there. The narrator asked the audience, If you were faced with the choice of killing yourself or being killed by the Romans, captured and turned to slaves, what would you do? I think the meaning was not lost on anyone, especially Tomer. He explained it to Dean like a grown up.
Oh and in the museum, we saw the cannonballs that the Romans used against the fortress. They looked EXACTLY like the one you found on our repelling trip together 13 years ago near Masada. Here’s a picture of it. I know it belongs in the museum, but of course, we’re still keeping it. You and your eagle eye. Amazing.
The pictures are:
1. The roman cannonball amir found on a hiking trip through the desert
2. Lia at Masada
3. Dean trying to reach these Hyrax animals - something between rabbits and badgers.
4. Dean is his father's son
5. A pool near the dead sea. Lia loves the water no less than her brothers.
